The Marcelle School of Dancing holds local classes in Great Dunmow and Barnston. These classes are for both girls and boys aged 2 years +
Classes are available in a variety of dance styles: Ballet, Tap, Pointe (depending on age and grade), Modern Jazz, Freestyle and Theatre Craft.
There are always lots of exciting things happening with us, from Dance Examinations which are held yearly and Dance Shows every other year. We aim to achieve a great balance and build technique and performance qualities, enhancing students maximum potential.
The Marcelle School of Dancing was established in 1934 - which makes the Marcelle School of Dancing the oldest dance school in Great Dunmow! It can even be found in the Dunmow history book found in the library!
In January 2012 the dance school was taken over by Miss Julie Green.
Julie has been dancing with the Marcelle School of Dancing since 1990, when she was 4 years old. In May 2010 Julie qualified with the IDTA and spent the next couple of years gaining experience in teaching before taking over the school.
Julie also has a Level 3 qualification in Child care with 5 years experience of working in a Nursery as well as a pediatric First Aid Certificate.
We currently have pupils aged between 2 - 28 years. Our pupils are currently working towards different achievements, from Rosettes and Juvinile awards to T.A.P Awards.
Each year we strive to reach the best grades possible and gain skills in all aspects of dance.
We offer a mix of old and new styles and technique in addition to fresh skills, offering a variety to make the perfect dancer!
From students that enjoy Ballet, to those that enjoy Freestyle we strive to keep up to date and offer classes to suit.
We currently have two Saturday assistants with over 15 years dance experience each. They both still enjoy attending classes and assisting with our younger students.
